This privacy policy explains what personal data Pet & Pet collects when you visit https://ppetandpet.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Pet & Pet, an independent publishing project run by Hugo Mellado, operates this website and acts as the data controller for the personal data described below. For any question relating to privacy, data access or deletion you can write to contacto@ppetandpet.com or use our contact page.
2. What data we collect
Data you give us voluntarily
- Contact form. When you write to us we receive the name, email address, subject and message you submit. We use them only to answer you.
- Comments. If you leave a comment on an article we store the name, email address and comment text you provide, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string, which are used for spam detection.
Data collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer and user-agent for security and troubleshooting purposes.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read and how visitors arrive. Data is aggregated and IP addresses are truncated where the tool allows it. Analytics cookies are only set if you consent to them.
- Advertising. We display advertising served by Google. See section 4 for full detail.
We do not ask for, collect or store financial data, payment card details, bank account numbers or identity documents. Never send that kind of information to us, or to anybody who asks for it in our name.
3. Legal basis and purpose
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the UK GDPR we rely on: your consent for analytics cookies and advertising cookies; legitimate interest for spam prevention, site security and aggregated audience measurement; and legal obligation where we are required to retain records. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
4. Third-party advertising, including Google AdSense
This site is monetised with advertising. We work with Google, and Google may in turn work with additional advertising partners.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
- Google’s own handling of data is described in the Google privacy and terms page for partner sites.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, personalised advertising and analytics cookies are only used after you give consent through our consent banner. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the consent icon displayed on every page.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers ourselves.
5. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site work, plus optional analytics and advertising cookies that require your consent. A complete, categorised list is available in our cookie policy.
6. How long we keep data
- Contact form messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Comments and their metadata: kept indefinitely so follow-up replies can be recognised, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Server logs: typically 30 to 90 days, depending on our host’s retention settings.
- Analytics data: according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics, at most 14 months.
7. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that make the site work: our hosting provider Namecheap, our email delivery provider, Google (analytics and advertising) and our consent management platform. Some of these providers are located outside the European Economic Area; in those cases transfers rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
8. Your rights
You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive a copy in a portable format and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email contacto@ppetandpet.com or write to us through the contact page; we answer within 30 days.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA additionally give you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, and the same email address handles these requests.
9. Children
This website is written for adults who care for animals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to the administration area is restricted and limited to the people who need it, login attempts are protected against brute force, and software is kept up to date. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes affecting consent will be communicated through the consent banner.
