Pet & Pet is a small, independent publication about the animals people actually live with. Not show breeding, not exotic collections — the retriever asleep by the door, the cat who owns the sofa, the guinea pig who screams at the sound of the fridge, the tank in the corner that nobody quite knows how to maintain.
Why it exists
Most pet advice online falls into one of two piles. Either it is a thin article written to rank on a search engine, padded out and vague enough to be useless, or it is a forum thread where six people confidently contradict each other. Meanwhile the questions owners actually have are specific and urgent: how much should he eat now that he is a year old, is that sneeze normal, why has she stopped using the litter box, is this wheel big enough.
This site tries to answer those questions properly — in plain language, with the reasoning included, and with an honest line drawn around what a website can and cannot tell you.
What we publish
Nine species guides form the spine of the site: dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, reptiles and fish. Each follows the same five sections — nutrition, habits and behavior, care and grooming, games and enrichment, and health and veterinary tips — so that once you know the layout, you can find what you need in seconds.
Around those guides, the blog takes single questions further, and events and news collects adoption drives, expos, low-cost clinics and recalls worth knowing about in the United States.
How we work
- We start from primary sources: veterinary association guidance, peer-reviewed literature, nutritional adequacy standards and poison control resources.
- We write for someone with no clinical background, and explain a term the first time it appears.
- Every care article names the signs that need a veterinarian, and separates routine advice from an emergency.
- We correct errors openly rather than quietly deleting them.
- We never publish doses, diagnoses or anything designed to keep an owner away from a clinic.

Who writes it
Pet & Pet is an independent publishing project run by Hugo Mellado, who researches, writes and edits everything published here and is accountable for it. He is a Digital Marketing student at UTAMED and holds an expert qualification in Creación y Diseño de Soportes y Canales.
He is not a veterinarian, and Pet & Pet is not a veterinary practice. That is precisely why every guide points back to your own clinic for anything clinical, and why the sources behind each claim matter more here than any opinion.

Pet & Pet is free to read and paid for by display advertising. Advertisers do not see articles before publication, do not influence what we cover, and their presence on a page is not an endorsement.
